I most certainly believe that.  If a large majority of Black people have White ancestory, it's only a given that some Whites have Black ancestory also.   I had heard one time that 1 out of every 10 White Americans has some Black ancestory and either don't know it or if they do, don't want anyone else to know it.

One of the newspaper editors here in Dayton, Ohio of the Dayton Daily News who is White, had heard all her life about their Native ancestory.  When she did some genealogy searching into their family, it turned out that it wasn't Native ancestory they had but Black.  A gr. gr. grandmother was Black or either mixed.   She wrote about it in a article one year for Black History month.  She said many of her family members were upset that she found this within the family and didn't want her to write the article.  She did though.  Which made some of her family members angry.   She said for herself, it didn't bother her or her kids.   She seemed happy to have even found that they had some Black ancestory.   Too bad others in her family didn't feel the sameway.

The journalist from Dayton, Ohio that I'm talking about name is Martha Hardcastle.  As a matter or fact she doesn't live that far from me.   I use to be in contact with her, I'm going to try to get in contact with her again.

Anyway, she's a White journalist who is now writing a book I believe about her family ancestory, and genealogy and Black ancestor that she found who was a slave.    Here is the link to her family's page where you can read a bit of the story.

It really does not matter if many whites have black ancestry, all that matters is that they are not seen as black, and they are not treated as black. This is what matters the most. If blacks feel so strong about the ODR then why don't blacks go up to whites and put the ODR on them?

The reason they don't is because of the phenotypes that whites have and secretively blacks knowing that one drop of black blood does not make you black. Combine that with whites can still punish them for certain things.

I'm not even discussing the ODR here.   I just thought it's interesting to see a White person that finds Black ancestory and has and is writing about it.

It's not something you see or her often.   That's all.

Not like the 'good ol days' eh? When white could punish us (YOU INCLUDED) for 'many things'.

I think you completely missed the point of the post, I guess you were too busy thinking back to old times in the Land of cotton.

Recently, my bestfriend met a white man from Arkansas but recently relocated from Florida. I got the chance to meet him. REEEEEALLY country-black accent. It surprised me. He also claimed 1/4 black but just looking at him, it was not obvious. My bff said she soon figured out where all the 1/4 black traveled to over his maturation.

idk but it was just a theory of mine...a few years ago i was looking into taking a geneology test that compared my dna to dna of the major nationalities (european, african, asian, and native american. when i first looked at the test everything seemed all great, but when i checked it now (abt 3 years later) all of a sudden there's all kinds of drawbacks and negative reactions. one big change was that the error rate had increased from 2-3% to 15%!!!...aparently learning of the test results had affected people in a negative way...some websites i read said that some people became depressed, it cause families to be ruined because the resuts weren't compatible to family history (mainly some people thought there was sigficiants native ancestry when in fact it was african or asian), and there was even an increase of suicide. on another website i read where someone said that there was testing being done on sickle cell (a known disease in african americas) and the testing was cut short because a huge number of caucasians were testing positive for the disease.

i think a lot of caucasians took the test wondering what their admixture was and discovered that they had significant african blood in them and couldn't handle it. i also think that the test is being discredited to influence people to avoid the test. also it said that if people discovered they had a significant amt of ancestry from another racial group they could change the census of the u.s.a or another country and cause all kinds of new problems.

Over the course of my years in school, I've three teachers tell me of black ancestry that they had. The first was my band 5th grade  band teacher.  I don't even remember how we got on the conversation of race, but she brought up the fact that her mother was a mulatto.  So she was 25% black.  I remember this clearly because of how all the students and even other teachers assumed that she was lying. The second time was my 7th grade science teacher whom said she was part black, and native american (in addition to being white), Once again, most people didn't believe her, but unlike the first time, this time I wasn't too surprised, she never really looked full-white to begin with. The last time a teacher told me about their admixture was in 11th grade. My loony biology teacher Mrs. Tynes actually got an admixture test. She's 17% Native American 3% Black and 80% European. She actually brought the test to school and showed everyone so people would believe her. And everytime a black student made a claim that she was racist- she would say "I'm 3% black!". Lol, that crazy Mrs. Tynes,  sure do miss her. I'm from Oklahoma and we have the largest native american population in the country so most who's family have been here within the last 50 years or more are assumed to  have Native blood, both the black, white, and even "Hispanic" populations have "Ndn" ancestry, even if they don't admit it. It bewilders me about how much this state is mixed, yet there still seems to be issues regarding interracial marriage, etc.

Wow, i'm at a loss for words. Suicide? Over a little African/Asian blood? The loony science teacher that I mentioned also told us that her family were hiding their test results from certain family members whom " didn't like black people" and "couldn't handle being black". I'm like, "wtf"?  I mean, the people whom took the admixtures tests should have not taken them in the first place if they couldn't handle the results. I mean, I think the reason for taking an admixture test is so you can learn about your ancestors and their history rather than "just wondering". If you know that you are "full Scottish" on your mother's side and "mostly Italian with a little Native American" on your father's side, honestly, what would compel one to get tested? Sometimes you don't ask questions that you don't want to know the answer to. I've also been on other admixture testing websites with memebers crying about "fake results", the members are claiming "I can't be 10% Black/Asian, i'm all the way Irish". If you were truly "all the way Irish" then your test would say so... Don't get me wrong, there is room for error, but if you've tested twice and get the same results, the only error being made is in your reaction. Interesting stuff here.

I do not believe that! Some people want other people to be mixed.

Everybody wants to be mixed.  And why not? We're the beautiful people.

I have heard/read different statistics.

"... Americans of predominantly white or European ancestry have the following mixtures:

2.7 percent of European Americans have at least 12.5 percent Native American ancestry (equivalent of one great-grandparent).

Less than 1 percent of European Americans have at least 12.5 percent West African ancestry (equivalent of one great-grandparent)."
